Upcoming Meetings: Board Meeting -> Saturday April 17, 2021 1:00 PM @ DGSC | General Membership Meeting -> TBD

Desk of DGSC President

Good News! DGSC was able to hold the first “live” General Membership Meeting, in what seems like years. Those attending exhibited good judgement by wearing masks and maintaining a safe distance. The primary order of business was the presentation of a proposed annual budget. This year the Board, anticipating the future needs of DGSC included 2 substantial Capital Expenditures.
  1. Sporting clays has become an increasingly popular venue, requested 2 additional 4 person (reconditioned) Golf Carts and 5 new Sporting Clays machines.
  2. With the availability of a Commonwealth Edison subsidy, the Board has recommended an upgrade of our current lighting system. A Comed contractor will install new LED light fixtures throughout the facility, significantly reducing our power consumption. This will include 100% of the bulbs and fixtures from the pole barn, parking lot, interior and exterior of the building. The project will also improve the lighting on all six of our previously lighted trap and skeet fields.
  3. There was also an additional investment in software for the ATA and NSSA, funds for Marketing, Accounting, and general operating expenses.
I would like to commend the Board for their progressive thinking and investment in the future of DGSC. This is a club, of which you can and will continue to be proud to be a member.

Secretary Notes

A board meeting was held March 13th and a general membership meeting was held March 28th. There's nothing major to report. It's business as usual at DGSC. With the weather breaking, more clays will fly and some improvement projects will get underway, including fencing and lighting renovations.

On a personal note, our youth team starts shooting April 9th and will continue on Fridays through early June. We have roughly 50 youth this season and need coaches. If you're interested, please contact me at (630) 724-7600. There's no greater satisfaction than passing the heritage of shotgun sports to the next generation.

Jed Davis, DGSC Secretary

Shotgun Sports

On Thursday April 1st we went back to summer hours. Club is open for games & regular shooting on Friday nights. Summer hours are 9:00 to 2:00 Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays & Sundays. Friday nights, 6:00 to 10:00.
The Yorkville High School League will start on Friday night April 9th and probably conclude their league shooting in June. There are 40+ youth shooters that have signed up for this league shoot. They will shoot on all (8) trap fields starting around 6:00 and most should be done by 7:00 or shortly after.
If the weather is questionable, check our web site or call the club. If you are shooting sporting clays, arrive early so you are done before 2:00 so we can close the club and let our help and volunteers go home.

(4) extra machines were added to our 5-stand field. This will allow us to change the course often so if you come out and shoot the course, it probably will be a little different every time.

Our ATA program will have its first event April 25. We will be looking for volunteer help to load the trap machines and help inside. If you can help, contact me or Stan Systo.

Just as a reminder, please pick up you empties after you shoot.

Larry Chambers, DGSC Shotgun Sports Director

Custom Earplug Interest

If anyone is interested, Mark Matteson has been in touch with a audiologist who has been making custom shooter earplugs in Diamond. She would be interested in coming out to DGSC and spending an afternoon at the club in April for those interested. A head count would definitely help so if you are interested in purchasing a set of custom shooter earplugs please call Mark Matteson for further information 815-474-0057.

DGSC Entertainment / Events / Marketing

Entertainment and Marketing will be supporting the Skeet Committee with food service for an ISSA visit to the club in May, the NSSA registered shoot in June, and the ISSA Fall meeting which will be held at DGSC for the first time. Entertainment will also be supporting George Adelman and Don Cox with food service for their planned work parties. If any other special events are planned that want support from entertainment please contact me.

Volunteers will be needed for the annual picnic in August. Since we are without kitchen staff the responsibility for all the cooking falls on membership/. Beyond that, volunteers are especially needed for the clean up the day after the event. Your participation will be gratefully accepted. New Senior Members are expected to participate.

Women will shoot for free (TARGETS ONLY) on Mother's Day, May 9th.

A summer swap meet is being considered utilizing the club's parking lot. This will be presented to the BOD at their next meeting. If you have feedback on the idea please contact me.

Ed Shannon, DGSC Entertainment Director and Marketing Chairman

ATA Shoots

Welcome Spring! We are looking forward to our first ATA shoot of 2021 on April 25th. Presquad is now open for all interested shooters to select squads for the three events - Doubles, Singles and Handicap. We will be spending the weeks leading up to the big day going through all the traps doing annual maintenance so everything is fresh and running smoothly. We are anticipating a great sunny day in the low 70's to to bring out the crowds of shooters and spectators! Any volunteers or members needing work hours are invited to help with the shoot and are greatly appreciated - just contact myself or Larry Chambers to make us aware. COVID19 protocols will be strictly enforced.

In other ATA news, the Illinois State Trap Shoot at Brittney Shooting Park has been given the green light from the County to have the shoot with appropriate COVID 19 protocols in use. This shoot is being held June 12th through the 20th, which includes the AIM youth portion of the shoot. The Illinois State Shoot has been and still is one of the top rated and attended state shoots in the country, so come join the us whether you plan to shoot or not.

In the meantime, as the weather gets nicer, please come out and enjoy your club and the variety of shooting sports it offers!
